Graphics Card - Can I do Better?

Hi All

Current card is a BFG 7950GT O/C 512 Ram PCI/E

Just getting into games such as Oblivion - Chernobyl etc,and I wondered if there was any point upgrading the card and if so, to what?

Running XP at the moment with no reason to upgrade to Vista in the near future.

Bag yourself a 8800 GTS 320 MB or 640 MB this will see a huge performance increase for you.

For DX9 the 2900XT would have to be the best choice for price versus performance.
Keeping up with the higher priced 8800GTX in some cases.

Overclock that CPU and get the 8800GTX (OCUK one for £300 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-051-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=877). Sell it a few weeks before the new cards come out (you'll have to keep your eye out for that). Pop in the 7950GT until the new card is out then upgrade for a lot cheaper.

The 8800GTX will blow you away and I'd imagine it will be the best money spent. Especially if you're a gamer .

I have the same CPU as you and just upgraded from an x1950 xt to an 8800 GTX. Main reason was to play Oblivion on high, and it sure does it well
