An emergency purchase for business use: Acer XC-1780 with the i5-13400 with nasty integrated graphics. I've already upgraded the RAM to 16GB, but despite having a decent enough processor, it's sluggish during normal use such as the mouse movement not being smooth and even when typing this there's that horrible slight delay with the text. I'm only using my screen resolution at 2k instead of 4k. I don't want to go to 1080p.

I'm wondering what my options are for graphics cards due to the tiny case and alas a paltry 180W PSU. I've looked online and seen a few suggestions, but was hoping for the best advice by posting here.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Are your graphics drivers up to date - and other hardware too? You shouldn't be getting a sluggish response in a desktop enviroment, even with an IGPU.

Sounds more likely to be a CPU issue. How's the CPU utilisation looking in Task Manager?

The last time I experienced sluggish typing was on a work laptop where the CPU was overwhelmed doing desktop tasks / having the other apps I needed up, often hitting 100%, especially if an update is happening. Can't remember what the CPU was, but in the end I had to request a higher spec laptop.

Another thing to check is what your refresh rate is set at. If it's something like 30 Hz, that could explain sluggish mouse movement, though wouldn't have thought it'd result in a noticeable delay with typing.

OMG, how did I miss this! Muchas Gracias!!!

Thanks to everyone else as well. Let's see how things go now that I'm not rocking 30Hz lol

I would uninstall as much bloatware as possible my nephew bought a msi gaming laptop which was loaded with all sorts of cr@p which was killing performance.

Tell me about it, it's awful how much there is

All is good that I'm now set to 60Hz. Cheers

Look at power saving settings too, somehow mine changed and I was only getting about 25% of the CPU !
Look in Task Manager\Performance tab\CPU and check the @ x.xx GHz in the top right corner.
If lower than expected you probably are being throttled by power management settings in either the bios or windows.
