graphics card compatible with psu

It's not about compatibility (like PCIe slot in motherboard), but power requirements.

HD770 requires one PEGx6 PSU socket and average 450W PSU, so it's what this Corsair can afford.

will a hd7770 be compatible with a corsair 430w builder series psu? cheers

The manufactures give you a recommended minimum wattage but these are normally way over the real required amount to make up for poor PSU qaulity.

The corsair 430 builder series are pretty good and standard for entry level/low profile builds, which the 7770 comes under.

TL;DR,

Should be fine.

Also are you planning to buy the 7770 then? Or just getting some answers based around it? :)

EDIT: Reason I ask is this

Extra £15 and much much much better card and overclocks damn easily to a 7870 or even 7950 if you have adequite cooling.

I would just get a 7850, it only draws a little bit more power under load (this is a pre-overclocked Gigabyte version) than a 7770 and is a much faster card. If you CAN get one of those B-grades, JUMP ON IT :p.

Thought I would build on this, a 7850 under full load roughly draws 100 watts, never more than 120 and some cards go as low as 90. This is under full load, if you are playing games this is never going to happen, your CPU will never hit full load either. You wil be lucky if the system even hits anywhere near the 430 you supply.

Well if you are getting a 7770 off overclockers then its about £115 for the middile model, <100 for the basic non OC'd version.

It's a shame the budget does not allow it, if you could at all scramble together the extra 15-30 you will see a big difference. About a 15% performance increase depending on OC + a 7770 will struggle to play at 1080p with high graphics.

But I don't blame you for getting a cheaper option, just bought myself a CPU/MOBO/RAM for £200, entry level stuff is so good these days a sub £500 rig is more than capable of gaming :D :D

Best of luck with the build!

This, i would even wait a few weeks to get this over the 7770

Just had an idea of, building the system and getting it up and running WITHOUT the GPU, then just saving for 6 weeks or so and getting the 7850. Im only 17 and have a crappy part time job so it takes a while, but as long as I can get the PC up and running, then just save from there. Will my PSU handle the 7850?

Cheers mate really looking forward to getting started and having it up and running. Although I have seen videos on YouTube of people running it on 1080p with an i3 on High/Ultra settings on games like Far cry and Dishonoured?
