Building a new system and probably getting the HIS X1900 ICE cooler thingy. Trawling through these forums I notice a lot of people are changing the stock coolers on graphics to other things like Zalmans?

I would presume this would invalidate any warranty, but is it easy to do??

It might be better for me to get a cheaper X1900 and add some sort of cooler

if you get the iceq version with the non standard heatsink there will be no need to change the heatsink as the 3rd party one is very good.

And yes it is easy to change a sink, but if you can get the pre supplied one i dont see a reason not to get it.

Yep thats the one - similar to my old Galaxy 6800GT cooler which to my disgust the other day was full with dust (computer kept crashing), its like a bloody hoover for the room :)

all fans and sinks gather dust, best thing to do is to pull it out of the slot and blow through the outlet of the sink, the dust should fly out of the intake.

the HIS iceQ cooler is brilliant, i had on on X700XT (i think it was XT) i would never change one for a third party cooler, won't be much of a chance in temps, especially since yours is the heatpipe one
