Thinking about ordering a new desktop pc soon and wondering whether I should go for the GTX980 or the GTX970 to use with the Asus swift monitor which I will also be buying at the same time.
I guess I'm trying to work out the best combo of the following components:
Asus Swift 27" ROG monitor
GTX 970 with i7 4790k or
GTX 980 with i5 4690k
Mostly I play arma 3, some flight (dcs series) and driving sims and currently GTA V. I'll be looking to get an Oculus Rift or similar when they are released next year too. For some time I've had to put up with ghosting laptop screens running on a gtx780m, so am really wanting to find a better setup since I left my PC in the UK for my stepson.
Is there an argument for x99, how high do they clock? I know Skylake is around the corner and I should probably wait for that. However, I'm certain there will be an inevitable price hike and I've been burnt before on first gen chipsets and lethargic bios updates.
How long til we see GTX980ti's and will they be worth waiting for too?
