I have a clan mate that bought a PC from a high street retailer.

It has a 2Ghz dual core sempron, 2gb ram and a X600 lol.

The poor chaps monitor broke so he went out and bought a 1400 x 900 monitor, now all his troubles begin :p

The X600 simply cannot handle BF2142, cod4 and MW2 won't even run for him.

I was thinking that a secondhand 4670 would be ideal, it should handle BF2, BF 2142, Cod4, Cod5 and MW2 (CoD6) well? Given his system specs of course.

I was thinking of a 4850 or 8800GT but I think he would then need a new psu, I think the 4670 would be great, he wont need to upgrade psu because it runs off PCI power.

Do you think my reasoning is just?

If he doesn't want to upgrade any other parts, then the 4670 indeed does sound perfect and will be a nice boost to his current system.

Well he says a new psu would be ok, but I'm thinking more about me getting involved. I can hear the scenario now "the psu won't fit in my case, omg oxy I want my monies back" or "the 4850 is to big for my gypo HP case"

This 4670 solves all the issues, it will fit in any case, and doesn't need extra power and is quite a little speedy fella.

I assume it will be ok Bad company 2, even if its low settings. He only seems to care about lag, as long as the game installs and has no lag he doesnt seem to care about high settings.

4670 a go then? :p

Well when i built a system for someone with this card, i tested it out quickly and dead space, cod4, cod5, you name it ran at almost a solid 60 fps(Ocassionally dropping to 50 ish but still perfectly smooth), this was on a 1680x1050 monitor btw. Max settings too.

Although i did have a 2.8x2 athlon with it :)
And for a plus it uses almost no power what so ever.q

I picked mine up for £36 from the clearance section btw ;)
