Graphics Card for AVCHD Video

I'm speccing a Core i7 system for home use (not gaming) as my current AMD 4400+ system just can't hack it when it comes to AVCHD Lite editing.

I don't need a high-end gamers card as I'm pretty sure most of the work is done by the CPU so, what do I need?

I have Googled my a55 off and still can't find an answer.

Thanks

Ok, well I wasn't sure on how much you were willing to spend, so I assumed you'd want the cheapest card for the job. But don't let the need for VGA limit your graphics card - almost all graphics cards are supplied with a DVI > VGA adapter. GTS 250 is slight overkill if you're planning to spend little as possible without skimping though.

Thanks for that, might save myself a few quid then.

I used to work with AVCHD with a 256mb Radeon 2400XT, and that was fine just to reassure you :D

Save up for an SSD, it works wonders and makes my AVCHD work much more of a pleasure.

Any card will do as long as it's got 256mb of RAM. Editing is all CPU. I'd probably get something like a 5770 regardless but depends on you.
