I am in the process of upgrading my sons gameing machine. Current Spec:-
DFI CFX3200DR mobo, 1900XTX x 2 in crossfire, AMD 64 x2 4800 cpu, 2gb Mushkin Redline memory, 2 x 150gb Raptors, Enermax Liberty 620w psu, Antec P182 case (new), and a new Dell 22" TFT (fabulous).

He is wanting to gradually upgrade and wants to use DX10 & VISTA. Our thoughts are to start with the graphics card, and go for a card that can migrate to a new board. Next upgrade would have to be mobo\cpu\memory and thats a lot of dosh in one go!

We are thinking ATI 3870 and possibly two if the psu is up to it. The 3870 X2 would be to long for the Antec, dammit.

Thats a good thougfht as the HDD's are at the bottom on the case, although we have got a 120mm fan on the middle HDD tray.

You might want to hang on for a bit for your GFX upgrade, with new cards hopefully just around the corner. A mobo/cpu/mem upgrade isnt expensive depending on what you are after, if he wants Vista then 4gb is only £55 and a good mobo is less than £100 you can get a decent Wolfdale for just over £100, that totals less than a new 3870 X2.
Its all about balance, there is little point in having an 8800gtx ultra if you have a single core cpu, 1 gig of ram and play at 1280x1024.
