I'd like to upgrade the Graphics Cards on my son's and daughters PCs.

Neither are heavily into PC games (XBox 360 and Wii) though my son does like to play the odd one now and then and my daughter is into Sims.

My son's computer current has an ATi 9700 Pro (AGP) whilst my daughter's has Geforce 6200.

The ATi 9700 Pro is still pretty reasonable, so the idea is to find something better for my son's PC and move the ATi 9700 Pro over to my daughter's.

This is where I need help.

Both machines are AGP and I don't want to change MoBos.
I don't want to spend a lot (thinking £50 or less on the 2nd hand market)
I don't know, and work out what is better than the Ati 9700 Pro because VGA Charts either don't go back that far or if they do they don't include the more modern cards.

If I look on the OC website I can see cards like

ATi 2600 XT
ATi 2600 Pro
ATi 2400 Pro
ATi X1650 Pro

But I've no idea whether these would be an improvement on the 9700 Pro.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Cheers,

Nigel

As best I can recall

Son's PC
AMD Mobile Athlon 2500+ running at 2.15GHz (San Diego)
1Gb Corsair Value
ATI 9700 Pro

Daughter's Computer
AMD Sempron 2600+ (being replaced with Athlon 64 3200+ Venice)
512GB cheap generic (being replced with 1GB Crucial Balistix)
Geforce 6200

So neither are particularly bad. As they stand today, my daughter's machine is quite sluggish, whilst my son's is quite nippy.

Got some cheap 2nd hand upgrades coming for my daughters machine.

Think I'll go for the 2600 pro.

With the CPU, Ram and Graphic Card, both machines will be brought up to a reasonable standard for around £80.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Nigel
