Graphics card for Rift

I played Rift the first 6 months of launch and checked it out a few weeks back on a come back for 'free' for 3 days basis, a fair bit has changed only two EU english servers now remain and both were low populated.

Being a pay monthly sub base game I invisedge when GW2 is launched less than 2 weeks from now Rift will take a further knock on subs.

Anyway beside the point Rift is quite heavy on the cpu as well as gpu I couldn't run it in ultra on a 460, however a 570 I could, but that's not ultra (maxed). It was only when I ran it on a 670 I could actually run it maxed out although laggy around the main cities the demand on cpu and shabby net coding is still going to impact the framerate.

Get him to stretch for a 570 if he can...

i played rift for 1st year and it was only reason i have my current pc and my 580 even o'c will not give high fps with everything maxed in city's and large scale pvp events i would hit 10-14 fps with all maxed reduce some AA and few other advanced effects and game still looks stunning with constant 60fps everywhere.
lowest setting my old 8800gtx ran if fine most of time

480sli still had dips in framerate with supersdampling for me back when i played it. no idea how the 7970 would do now
