Hi,

We're running Linux Ubuntu at work, and would like to get dual 24" monitors.

We will need new graphics cards with dual DVI/HDMI. We obviously don't need any gaming capabilities, and it should be as quiet as possible.

What would you recommend?

The way most of these cards (and newer onboard video and laptops) work is that they have a few different types of connectors in various combinations, allowing any two to be used at the same time. e.g. hdmi and vga, or dvi and hdmi etc. Windows can cater for twin screens natively in display settings and will allow duplicate screens (cloning) or spanned screens (extended desktop).

AMD/ATI changed things a bit with newer cards since they allow three connections at the same time, but does require drivers to be fully utilised since window can get a bit fiddly setting up 3 (or more) screens especially in extended mode.
