Hello everyone. Its been a few years since i last built a computer but i now want to build a new machine for flight simulator and x-plane. I am on a tight budget to get it up and running. Upgrading the CPU etc at a later date.

I need a decent graphics card within the £100-150 mark. maybe a tad more
what do you think? i thought a sapphire ATI radeon HD5750?

this is the planned setup:
asus p7p55d-e mobo
corsair xms3 4gb ram
intel i3 cpu
corsair 650w psu
arctic cooling freezer 7 cpu cooler
already have case, dvd, hdd

displays will be either a 22" or a 32" samsung display (depending on the computer location) so HDMI would be useful.

thank you for your input!

Hi there, I'm not into flight sims myself but have looked into this for someone before. It seems to get good performance graphically, you will need quite a beefy spec'd machine.

have a look at this guys vid using the gtx 480 (£350) along with a i7 920. Admittedly with max settings he's getting around 40-60fps:)

edit: i should add that obviously your performance will also depend on the resolution you play at and what kind of graphical sacrifices you are willing to make. An overclocked gtx 460 or maybe if you can push to a gtx 470 would be more than fine if you played at a lower resolution.

hmm may have to get a 460 for the short term then. can overclock it to squeeze a bit more out of it whilst i save up for the gtx 480, i7 and another 4gb ram.
interesting vid, quite a decent setup!!

thanks for the advice!
