Graphics card help

I am anticipating delivery of a new network card. I just moved my graphics card from the PCIEX4 slot to the PCIEX16 slot but it didn't register. Is there a reason for this?

It booted up with the DVI plugged in the card but was not in HD and when I ran the DXDIOG it didn't show up.

Sorry for my limited knowledge but any help would be appreciated.

I am not 100% on this but think you will need to flash the latest BIOS onto your MOBO for newer GPUs.

Maybe someone else can confirm...

Have you tried re-seating the card in the new slot?

Have you tried putting the card back in the old slot to make sure it's still working properly?

I swapped it back and it worked fine.

Yea I did, it was hard to see but I am pretty sure it was in. It must have been for me to get picture through it, no?

It may not have been fully in and still sort of work.

It was just a quick check to rule that out.
