Hello,

I have run out of HDMI input slots on my monitor and have another device I would like to connect. I have looked into a HDMI 'switcher' button/remote type things that I think would do the job but just had a thought about graphics card input. I'm sure my card has a HDMI input. Anyone here use theirs in that way and how would I go about telling the card to show the hdmi input feed on monitor?

Thank you,

Would help if we knew what card you have.. Also graphics cards for years have more than one output so why not send another cable to the second screen/device from the back of the graphics card.

Yes sorry I should have phrased that better , i think i'm confusing myself with what I am trying to do.

I have a 3060ti card.

My monitor (it's actually an AIO but I only use the AIO bit for work) only has 1 HDMI input which I use for my gaming PC (with mentioned gfx card). I have another device (Pi type thing) that I am currently having to reach round back and swap over.

The Pi is right next to my gaming pc so can easily run a hdmi cable to that. But how would I tell the gaming PC to show the incoming Pi signal?

Thank you

If you mean connecting the Pi to the 3060ti you can't you will need a capture card.

So basically you have 2 other devices to connect to the AIO computer, does the AIO computer only have one video in ? If that is the case then it would be easier to get a hdmi switcher box and connect the pi and 3060ti to it then and to the one input on the AIO computer.

Like one of these for £8.50 :-

If your AIO computer has 2 inputs say hdmi and display port, then connect the 3060ti via display port to back of the AIO computer and the Pi via the HDMI.

You didn't state the AIO computer you have so no idea what video inputs it has and how many. If one HDMI in then the switch box above will be needed.

That's helped a lot a lot thank you :) I've bookmarked that box and think that should work nicely.

I have the ideaCentre A540 AIO and although there is a display port on the back I think it is output only but will double check.

Here is the manual for the AIO :- https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/a540series_ug_v1.0_en_20190805.pdf

It only has one HDMI in and a single HDMI out too so to connect it to another monitor.

So the box switch box above is what you need. So you connect the single HDMI out on the box to the HDMI in on the AIO and there is a switch at back of the AIO to select the HDMI in when using the Pi and 3060ti to switch to the switcher box.

The AIO doesn't have a display port in sadly.

:) Cheers Purgatory, appreciate that :) Thanks for finding the manual.
Have ordered that switch so will keep fingers crossed and let you know how it goes.

My pleasure :) shout if you need any help with it when you get it, but should be just a matter of 3 HDMI cables to the switch and one to back of the AIO and 1 each to the Pi and 3060ti.

Remember the switch at back on the AIO to select the AIO mode or monitor HDMI in mode too. If no on screen selecting the input they have the manual switch, but check the AIO screen for a settings button and that probably has an input selection area or just a button to select the HDMI in too, shouldn't be an issue but saves you going round back of the AIO to flick a switch too.
