Hello everyone,
I currently have a 1090t @ 4.01ghz on a crosshair iv formula and it's been great. However, i was playing Dead Island Riptide and noticed something odd, that my gpu temps were around 87-90C and the card was running at 35-45% fan speed at those values. Then i got a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error, and the computer BSOD on various occassions. I tried to fix the issue in safe mode, but it just kept recurring. Oddly enough i removed all the devices and press the power button 4 times to remove the current, I've been told to do this, and i received a message of overclock failed and it reverted the bios to a different version with standard clocks.

I own an XFX 5870 1GB and really need to get this fixed, as reviewing games is my job. I'm not the biggest tech expert out there, so I'm not sure if my GPU is failing or what it could be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well I'm installing windows at the mo, boots fine to desktop now, which it didn't before after the CMOS was reset to default settings and i flashed the bios to the latest version.

Originally it was on a raid0 config, but i want to run everything at stock to eliminate anything that could be an issue.

I will run some tests with ram, gpu, cpu etc; does any-one have any recommendations for programs to use?

memtest86 for your ram,and gaming for your graphic card,i wouldn't use any stress programs for the gpu, just game as normal

It's been running for 2:47:39, and 2 passes with 0 errors.

I also checked that at stock, my CPU is running at 19C (so that shouldn't be the problem).

Once the RAM test is done, I'm going to play some games and monitor them with MSI, thanks for the help guys, and I'll keep you posted.

Just out of interest, what would a good card be as a significant upgrade to the 5870, if it's on it's way out, coupled with a 1090T @ 4.1GHZ (worried i may be wasting money if i get a 7970, and the CPU held it back).

Thanks :)
