Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phantom 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Purchased March 2016

Problem when gaming and also when my girlfriend is on Rhino/Photoshop. Things working fine and then suddenly screen goes black, no audible change in fan speed and no noise to suggest computer is rebooting, just a black screen. After a few seconds 'No Video Input' on the monitor. Nothing to do other than physically reboot with button at this point.

Ruled out monitor problem by plugging in a laptop which works fine. No other desktop in the house to troubleshoot parts with.

Does this sound like GPU to you?

Is the above GPU still in warranty?

If Yes and No to the above I'll need to buy something new. Could someone please recommend me something which will, primarily, do the design/rendering side of things best? Is this even a GPU task or is it 100% processor? Will GPU make any difference at all to Rhino/Photoshop?

Thanks

What temps does the card reach when under load?

Thanks for the responses so far. Yesterday when I got home from work it wouldn't turn on at all. So can't test temperatures under load I'm afraid. Yes all PSU cabling was correctly in place prior to this :)

Computer boots on integrated after removing graphics card.

I guess it's 99% either the card or the PSU, and as the PSU is a SuperFlower Gold I'm leaning towards the card.

Think I might suck it up and wait for the new 11 series cards in the Summer unless anyone has any other suggestions, or perhaps is in London and happy to test it for me?

I take it you've tried wiggling the cables around etc, and reseating the card?

Sorry I know it's obvious stuff but just in case.

But otherwise does suggest the GPU is out, very unfortunate if it does have a 2yr warranty, and with the price of GPU's right now due to mining.

Edit: Also check the warranty out with gainward, and even if it is 2 years, maybe worth a cheeky email to them anyway?

Thanks guys, yes I have tried wiggling a few things and clearing any dust and whatnot that might be causing problems. No change.

I've emailed Gainward with a begging message and explained the situation. Worth a try!
