Graphics card issue?

Hi all,

I have very recently completed my first attempt at building a pc. All seemed to go well, but once I installed my graphics card (gtx 970) it caused my screen to have lines across it'll. I also am unable to change the screen resolution which is I think 800 x 600 or something similar.

I also checked on the device manager and I have the warning triangle which listed error 43, and on occasion error 14.

I have a feeling it may possibly be a faulty graphics card, and may have to return it. Any help is appreciated! Graphics card fans are running and all looks normal in the case.

Specs are;

i7 4770k - gigabyte z97x gaming 7 - 16gb Kingston ram - Superflower 750w PSU - corsair h100i cpu cooler - crucial ssd - inno3d geforce gtx 970 ichill ocuk exclusive

Have you installed the latest GPU driver (found on the nvidia website)

Overall how do temps look on the GPU and CPU. I'd expect them both to be around 30's-40's at idle..

Have you made sure the cables are fitted into the card and the monitor correctly? What connection are you using? Hmdi? DVI?

It may be a faulty card, just worth trying everything beforehand.

Thanks for the reply.

The CPU and GPU are both in the 30s at idle. I'm using a HDMI lead which is properly connected and works fine with the on board graphics. Also tried re fitting the card and ram. Latest drivers all installed too.

Tried everything suggested from the geforce forums to no avail so a journey to ocuk tomorrow to return.

The RMA was quick and easy, but very disappointed to find they only had a couple left and wouldn't put one on hold for me. Now sold out so looks like ill have to pick a different 970
