Graphics Card Issue?

Hello All,

Spec in sig, been having a problem now for a while, when redering in 3ds max I get a crash and a blue screen.

Also sometime when watching twitch my computer will just crash and the screen will stick (can do anything also no sound)

Could this be an issue with my graphics card?

I have just reinstalled windows as I had a black screen delay at boot.

My card is a herculese ichill 780 standard clock

Any help appreciated

could potentially be, might also be worth checking memory using memtest...

it will probably take a while with 16gb but if you can leave it to do a few passes and see if you get any errors

running it now will do 4 pass and post back, if it turns out ok how shall I proceed? request an RMA for the graphics card?

What about the 4770k overclock could be its not stable.

Memtest is looking OK after 1 hr/pass will leave it going for a while longer. What should I be doing next to diagnose this problem?

Take GPU out and used on board GPU, see if the errors replicable?

the error was very random, like sometimes it wouldnt happen for a week, then all of a sudden it goes again, cant get a dump or anything cuz I am forced to hard reboot

Are you using the latest GFX drivers? Have you tried running any gfx stress software like furmark (I know people recommend not using this in general, but it may flag an issue with the GFX card if its overheating or faulty) or some in game benchmark tools. You could try running some Prime95 tests to check there's no issues with CPU... have you got another PC you could try your GFX card in?

I Ran 2 pass of memtest and got 0 errors, is it possible that I did not configure the ram correctly?

How big is your Page File?

I just did a fresh reinstall so that shouldnt be the issue I don't think?

Have you got the most recent stable gfx drivers and have you tried some stress tests on you gfx card?

Is there anything in the event viewer logs around the time of the crashes?

Also can you test the gfx card in a different pc? Like spare pc or a mates pc?

Not in most cases. However, there are circumstances in which the Page File can be altered from default pretty much directly after a reinstall, such as certain SSD's Optimization/Performance modes (some of which disable/drastically shrink the Page File). For example Samsung SSD's and Maximum Performance mode, etc. Even if you don't have a Samsung or anything which may do that, a quick check wouldn't hurt?

I have the most Recent Drivers, I have ran stress tests on the card and it seems ok, I dont have another PC to try it in.

What size should I be looking for with the pagefile?

Note it crashes when rendering 3ds max Vray every time, or sometimes when watching twitch tv in firefox, I have to do a hard restart so I dont get a dump or windows event
