Graphics card issues.

Hi guys.
I recently bought an Asus strix Gtx 1050 time 8gb.
I have correctly installed it. It fits. But when I turn Comy on after a few secondseconds the fans on the card stop, the light turns from blue to red, and it makes a few loud beeps. The monitors show the hp logo and "press escape for start up menu" I press escape and it doesn't work.

I've tried many different fixes. Anyone have any ideas what the issue maybe?
I think it maybe a mobo/cpu compatibility issue.
Mobo is pegatron 2ab5
Cpu intel quad i7-2600 (not K) 3.4ghz
Pretty old set from about 5-6 years ago. Store bought so has stock parts.
My old gpu is he force gt 545.
I've upgrade psu to 650, installed new drivers.
Any suggestions or info would be appreciated.

Looking on the web your motherboard has a basic bios and probablly needs an update for the graphics card but there is none availible.

Many have changed there motherboards because of the problem but you may find windows is tied to the motherboard.
 
Hi and welcome to the forums.

Sadly I think this is a motherboard compatibility issue that will end up costing you to fix. A quick Google search shows many people suffering with attempted GPU upgrades on that motherboard without much success. I've read the 750ti should work, but then you could get one and have the same problem.

Or you could get a second hand 1155 motherboard off Ebay, but that's a complete pain to install.

You could try updating the BIOS I suppose, but I'm not confident it will solve your problem.

I am pretty resigned to getting a new mobo, cpu and maybe case (I'm on a micro are. Think I want next size up. Not fully researched as yet.)

Now to try anD navigate what every new mobo means xD
 
Hi guys. Can you guys help me decide if I should just get a new motherboard? Or Motherboard and CPU?

Any Mobo recommendations? I do play some high end games but not many (owing to my current pc not being great at it anymore.)
I am more likely to get a new tower with Mobo. NOt a micro Atx size. just a decent largishone which has room for improvements etc.
 
You could get a second hand 1155 socket motherboard from Ebay or go for a new CPU/mobo/RAM combo - all depends on your budget really. How much do you have to spend?
 
had a search on the gfx card and the one that came up for me has a power connection on it, if yours does is it locked into the card properly ?
