Basically the graphics card in one of our pc's appears to have died, pc kept locking up with red or blue lines/spots on the screen. As I've not really been following this sort of stuff for a while I was wondering if some of you more knowledgeable people could offer a few suggestions.
Card that we think has died was a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3, running in a PC with an Intel Q6600 (not overclocked) with 4gb ddr2 ram and a corsair 620w psu.
This pc is used for everyday things like office, photoshop and internet browsing but also games such as WoW, BFBC2, Mass Effect 2 etc and we used a resolution of 1440x900.
So any suggestions on a card which could be expected to run games well at reasonably high settings for the next few years as part of this system would be gratefully appreciated. Looking to keep the price to around £150 max.
Thanks.
