what is the onbaord memory called in ati tray tools?

when running games i have my memory stats in the top right corner. i have video memory and texture memory.

video memory is always 0mb left and texture memory varies, so is video memory the actual gcard memory or the system memory?
 
a lot of views but no replies? are you experts too scared to comment ? lol :p

i'm only asking becasue if gaming is using all 256mb of memory then i need to be looking for a better card ;)
