I recently got a 290x and even when i turn off power management features like sleep and display hibernation I still lose display if i leave my pc for more than half an hour or so. When i come back my monitor still has signal but a black screen and nothing but a restart will bring it back.
This also happens randomly even in use but only on the desktop, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the 2d power settings. I've never had it happen in games.
I've currently got two DGM monitors and have the same issue with them both, but it must be related to the graphics card since i didnt have these issues with my 7850.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I'm using the recent gta v drivers, 14.4.1 I think, since newer Witcher drivers give me problems in some games.
Any help would be appreciate, thanks.
Id rather not RMA it since its B Grade and I'm just over the 90 day warranty period with OCUK. I'm not sure how RMA's work for b-grade items with manufacturers but I've also heard ASUS's rma service is pretty dire, so its something id like to avoid for the sake of convenience.
EDIT - It seems like it might not be the graphics card. Sometimes if I'm listening to music even the music will stop playing after I lose display..very odd. Would be too much of a coincidence if it was anything other than the graphics card though, these problems only started with the 290x.
