Graphics Card not being detected.

As per the title, I've recently bought a new graphics card, namely the MSI 580 GTX Lightning.

I've connected it up to the motherboard and PSU but when I turn on my PC, the card's fans start running but i'm unable to get any picture from the monitor.

I end up using my on-board graphics to get into windows, and there's no mention of my graphics card in the device manager.

My specs are as follows,

Running Windows 7 (64bit)
Corsair Pro Gold AX1200W
Asus P6Z68-v Pro (1155)
Intel i5 2500k 3.3 ghz
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 1866 mhz

I've tried updating my motherboards drivers to no avail, also any nvidia drivers I try say they 'cannot find compatible device' or somesuch.

Any help appreciated,

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies.

I've reseated the graphics card, swapped it to a different pci-e slot and back again with no luck.

I've also disabled my on-board graphics but it still hasn't detected the card.

Cheers again.

Have you changed the setting in the bios so the P.C. uses the graphics card instead of the on-board graphics?
If it's not even showing up in Device Manager as an unknown device, no matter which PCI-E slot it's plugged into, then I'd say it's got to be a BIOS setting, a problem with the card or the way you're plugging it in.
