graphics card now or later?

Spec so far is:

Intel i5 2500k overclocked to 4.6
Asrock Extreme 7 gen 3 MB
Antec 750 PSU
Thermaltake GT lvel 10 case
Radeon 4870

Graphics card is far from ideal.
Looking at either a GTX 570 or possibly saving a little for a 580. Is it worth waiting for some price changes or xmas special deals as the new 7000 series come out? I would to SLI a second in the future (will obviously need a new PSU) Budget £300. Any suggestions?

What would you do?
 
There will always be something new just around the corner and with regular holidays and events there is always the prospect of price drops.

Yes since it is almost here it might be worth hanging on just a bit longer for special christmas prices. However the best advice I can give is if you see a card you want, at a price that you are happy with, then just buy it and don't look back.

Is the £300 just for the PSU or the graphics as well? If the former £300 will buy you just about any high end consumer PSU on the market, you will be spoilt for choice. Look for something rated 80 plus from a well known brand like antec or coolermaster. Wattage will depend on what you are running, check the requirements of your planned cards.
 
You may as well wait for a few months till the 7xxx series, in the worst case, prices of the "current" gfx cards will drop,at best, the 7xxx series will hammer the current gen cards for about the same price.
 
From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, some new cards will be here around December time and the whole lineup should be out by March, so about a few months :D
 
maybe save most of money and bag a ati 5850 till new cards are out gunna cost you 30 quid on top of your card sale

you wont lose much if anything when you lose 5850 and youll be sweet till new cards on every game
 
As above, I'd try and hold out until the 7xxx series. At least until early december anyways, as that's when the mid-range cards are due. I'd expect them to have similar performance to the current 69xx cards, but at a lower price.
