Hello All, My sons' set up is :
AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX)
ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

A friend at my work has for sale a Asus GTX 560TI. Is this suitable ? Is the system capable (PSU not enough grunt etc.) ?
All thoughts appreciated.
ATB, Nelly

on the Nvidia site is says the GTX 560TI minimum psu requirement is 500w

So as long as you have 2x6pin pci-e connectors on the psu you are good to go

+1 its an old card now, but will still run games on medium settings.

I'm still using a 560ti and although I do want to upgrade I wouldn't say runs games on medium, it will run most things on high still. I don't think I've had to put it on a medium preset on any game. (haven't tried crysis 3)

Thanks for all the advice/ input fellas. I'll speak with him Monday and see what happens.
I'm learning all the time. Is the PSU output the only concern when choosing a GPU ?

It's not the only concern, but it's the main one as obviously a weak PSU could cause all sorts of problems with a half decent video card.

That and the CPU. If the CPU isn't up to much then the GPU will throttle back because the CPU cant't keep up.

Don't think you will have that problem with yours though.

One thing to keep in mind when considering future upgrades is the actual psu output. The CX500v2 may say 500w on the side but it can only deliver 408w on the 12v rail where it counts.

i run a gtx 670 (170wtdp), gt610 (30w) and a oc'ed fx6200 (125w tdp) on a cx500m. i think you will be fine with a 560ti (170w tdp) and an a10 5800k (100w tdp)
