I am thinking it is time to upgrade my 8800gts 640mb now, as it is getting on a bit and is being left a long way behind by some other cards out there. My spec is in my sig and i mainly play source based games and call of duty series games. And i am looking at spending around £150 on a graphics card that will last me a year till next upgrade. and suggestions would be great, and also i need to know whether a 520w power supply would be able to cope with them

I've got the 8800GTS 320MB and am looking at the same situation. I'm letting the market play out a little first, hopefully the 4870 should be more than affordable in not too long, though compared to nvidia it seems like good value already. Maybe the 4870 X2 will tempt you?

I have a HX620 and can't see myself having any problems with that. Yours will depend on what else you're powering.

2 hard drives
2 dvd drives
and the fans in my case aswell as the things in me sig, thats it.

and the 4870 is out of the budget seeing as i only got £150 after i sold my 8800

i would seriously think about putting the extra £20 on top of your £150 and get the 4870

for the extra cash you get a load more performance

think of what you will realistically spend the £20 on
realise you dont need it and then get the 4870 tbh

well if you really thight on 150 and u will still have some for booze 4850 is better then 9800gtx+ so it is a good card but if u can strech 170 get 4870 it is better then gt260 and i beleave it will definetly would last you till next christmas/summer

what he said: 4850 if £150 is your absolute max, otherwise the little extra for the 4870 will definitely be wise for longevity.
