I built my 1st gaming rig yesterday

Sharkoon T9 Case
Intel Core i5 3470
8gb Corsair Vengeance
Cooler Master GX 550w PSU
VTX3D Radeon HD 2gb 7870

After plugging in graphics card i then put the hdmi in back of it and powered on,got no signal on screen,i then turned off and back on and got the same.

Turned it on a 3rd time and it worked, got to Windows is loading bar which then went onto Windows is starting. Within seconds i got 1 green line down middle of screen and 1 on right end of screen while the rest of screen was still on Windows is starting.

The screen went black and i got the no signal message on screen again, since then the pc will not get off the no signal screen when graphics card is plugged in. I am currently running the computer using the HDMI on the motherboard with no problems,i rang shop and they are picking up this 1 tomorrow and i had to buy another 1 while they process my refund for the current 1.

A shop local to me said my 550w is the problem and i should be running it with an 800 to 850w PSU whilst the shop i bought it from told me is talking rubbish and they linked me to the AMD site,i will post below what it said on their site.

My card requires 2 6 pins.

The below message is taken from the AMD website for my card

( 500W (or greater) power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended7
600W power supply (or greater) with four 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended for AMD CrossFire™ technology. )

Personally I think your gpu wattage is grand as can be seen in my sig my build is overclocked and has been running for about a year now on a 550w psu, but that isnt to say that the psu is off the hook. Could possibly be faulty - you currently have it working of a hdmi cable you said - is this the same cable as before which resulted in a green line down your screen or a second cable?

Also - do you have any other cables you can use to connect to your tv - wouldnt rule out mabey a faulty port on the gpu - just realised how negative im sounding here lol - so il try on of the easier solutions - the cables/gpu fully inserted ?:-) just thought id.ask.- my first build I hadnt inserted 1 of the ram modules fully - pure panic next 15 mins until I realised my silly mistake

I ran a Powercolor HD7870XT on a CM GX550w PSU fine with no problems, try a BIOS update as my Z68 motherboard had problems with producing signal when I put in my new GPU :)
