Hi guys,

I need some help, i have a Striker Extreme motherboard and my 8800gtx card. Now the card could not fit in the first slot of the board so i placed it in to second slot however there is a problem. Just reading some reviews i have found out that the two blue slots are x16 whilst the other is x8. Should i quickly change from that slot to the other blue one? Hope i haven't damaged anything on the card ....

Link to motherboard configurations : http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4528&s=3 (look at the PCI slot descriptions).

Er . . not while its turned on surely . . . That would be suicide . . .

I wouldnt think it would matter which blue slot it is in, But it wont damage the card. At the most it would just run slower.

Lol you misunderstood what i was trying to say. Im not gonna change the slot while its on lol. I was simply asking is it ok to leave the card in the slot that it is in (which seems to be a pci x8 or something (its the slot between the two blue ones on the motherboard)) or is this causing any slow down within the pc and it would be a better idea to switch it to one of the other pci slots.

Move it to a x16 slot for best performance. The x8 slot should work ok, but it limits the amount of data passing to/from the card, so you could have some slowdown when using ultra quality textures.
Using the x8 slot won't do your card any harm.
