Hi gang,

A quick question for you

What information on my mobo spec will tell me whether or not a graphics card is compatible or not?

P.S. On a budget so thinking of a 4650 or 4830 from a 1900 XT. (comments welcome)

Cheers.

what make and model is your motherboard?

basically if you have PCI-E slots any PCI-E card will work but it also depends on what PSU you are using as certain cards require a lot more power than others.

The rig in question is a A8N-SLI Premium.

I can't remember the mobo model in the second machine, but it's definately PCI-E. I have 450 or 500 watt PSU's in both also.

PCI-E x16 if you run SLI then you will get x8 per slot.
I think its about 2.5 as per the new PCI-E 2 slots are 5.<<< data flow per PCI-E slot.

I have a an A8N-SLI Deluxe which has 2 PCI-e slots, I'm sure yours will be the same so no compatibilty issues there.

The min wattage recommended for the 4830 is 450Watts so you should be fine, the 4650 I imagine will be the same or less
