hi everyone how are you

anyway got a question here

i bought a graphics card i had a gtx 550 so today is 2015 with all the new games just couldnt handle anygame i got a r9 380 4gb my question is i think i installed it wrong is it possible a graphics card can run with 1 6 pin today when i woke up i took off the case and made sure to plugin both my 6 pins very sturdy and made sure it was clicked and very in there i'm trying to figure out if a graphics card the r9 380 4gb can run with one 6 pin if it can that will verify that i was getting the fps it should if no that means today when i opened the case and plugged in both and made sure both 6 pins were in that i can get higher fps i'm very confused some one help do u guys think 1 6 pin can power a graphics card and if it can do u think it has any fps drop instead of 2 6 pins

what i meant to ask is

is it possibole that a r9 380 4gb can run with one 6 pin connector
and if it can run on one 6 pin connector does it have less fps performance
then when running one two 6 pin connectors

The card will need both power connectors connected.

It probably wont even power on with just one, use both as that is the way it is designed to be used.

If a card has two connectors you should use them.

i know i have 2 connectors that are 6 pin i'm just wonedering if it was possible that just one 6 pin was connected and i feel now that i have both 6 pin connected i was wondering if it would make a difference in fps

It could make a difference to your safety if you try running it on one connector.

I would recommend you connect both connectors. One may work, but it's not at all recommended. If the card draws too much from one connector it may become unstable.

A 6-pin connector is rated for 75W and it can draw 75W from the PCI-E slot. 150W of rated capacity for the card which can easily draw 200W is a safety risk.

Use gear as it is intended to be used.

Do not abuse electrical equipment.

FPS is irrelevant.

I'm not sure I am following, but I believe you are saying you conneted just 1 6 pin by accident at first, and that it seemed to work ok? And now you have connected both 6 pin connector, you want to know if you fps will increase?

If thats the case, then the answer is, most people will not be able to tell you the answer as most will not have tried to connect things incorrectly, and most would not want to test it anyway.

Just be happy that you noticed before anything went horridly wrong. Now you can test the system for yourself and enjoy your purchase.

Simply

1 six pin connected = burning / exploding gpu, mobo and or psu

2 pins = playable

So in theory yes 2 6 pins will cause more fps in that with 1 it will kill everything.

kk thank you

Next we'll be having people asking if they can run with the graphics card still in the box.

Seriously though, use both 6pins. Using one is not only a risk to your fps but a risk to your health and computer.
