Hi all,

I game at 1680x1050 on a 22" Dell FPW. I am looking to upgrade my GFX card and would like some recommendations as to what to go for.

I'm looking for something under the £200 mark, with the best "bang for buck". The cards I've looked at so far have included:

Asus HD4850 512MB @ £115 inc vat
Asus HD4850 TOP 512MB @ £138 inc vat
Asus HD4850 1024MB @ £145 inc vat
Asus HD4870 512MB @ £195 inc vat

I like ASUS (can you tell?), but would be happy to go with Sapphire or HIS if they can be found for similar value! I'm also not against going for the 260GTX, but they seem to be significantly more expensive? Is this justified by the performance improvement?

I'm not sure if its worth going for a 1Gb version either, given that by the time I increase my screen resolution I'll have a completely new computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

For best bang for the buck I'd say 4850 512mb, however your budget is quite high for them so I'd say either save some money or push the budget up a bit and take advantage of the falling 280 prices.

agreed too bad I m after another sapphire 512 >.> to go with my current

At that res, unless you are looking for oodles of AA then the 4850 will give by far the best bang per buck.

Thanks for comments!

I currently have an Ati x1950xt. Its only 256Mb and struggles massively with 1680x1050 resolution.

I'm going with a HD4850 as the rest of my rig would be a bottleneck for anything more expensive! (E6600 @ 3GHz, 2GB PC2-6400 Geil Ultra, P5W DH Deluxe)

Any recommendations on which HD4850 to get? What manufacturers are generally the best for the following cateogries:

Faults
Support
In-pack games/bonuses
Temperatures
Noise levels

Thanks again!
