Hi guys,

System is that in the sig, its getting on a bit now and showing its age, but with a decent graphics card it can probably still hang for another couple of years.

One of my 780's has finally died, means I'm down to one 780 which just doesn't cut it.

I game at up to 4k at 60hz, about £600 to spend... do I go 2080 or AMD? Whats the best bang for my buck?

Cheers

From what I understand you can get a 2080 or a Vega 7 for about that much. They're different cards and tend to excel in different games and settings.

Ignoring ray tracing, the 2080 edges out the Vega more often than it gets edged out, at least at the moment.
The Vega card however has much more VRAM and there has been some overclockers who claim it has more OC headroom (with different cooling).

In reality 2080 is better (especially the binned ones) at the moment but Vega 7 might have a little more lifespan in it (games dont make use of the 16 GB of VRAM at the moment, but maybe in the future?).

Still, neither are good value compared to the ~£500 1080ti's from the end of last year, but those kind of deals probably won't return for some time.

I'd probably go for the Radeon VII (or be prepared to compromise with some graphics settings and drop down to something like an RTX2070/1080/Vega 64).

As mentioned, the 2080 is a bit more powerful overall, but I can't help think that 8GB of vram seems a bit underwhelmning for a card of that rank, and especially if playing at 4K. Then again, you've been running GTX780's. :)
