Graphics Card(s) for 10 Screens

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my PC to handle 10 monitors and I would like some advice on the best card or cards to buy.

I would prefer the fewest number of cards
I do play a few games such as Portal and soon Skyrim but this PC is mostly used for web programming and server monitoring etc.
I must be able to use each monitor individually for applications
It would be nice to allow games to run over all monitors (or at least the middle 6)
My monitors support DVI and VGA (I prefer DVI so I can run them at 1920X1080. Not sure if it's my current cards but VGA doesn't work above 2Hz on that res).
I don't mind using convertors (for display port etc)

I've heard of a card that supports 12 monitors (Powercolor HD 5970) but I can't find anywhere that sells it.

Gonna be tricky, afaik both nVidia and AMD solutions are limited to a maximum resolution of 8192 pixels in any one direction and nVidia solutions can only handle 8 monitors max (mosaic) and 3 (nVidia surround) for fullscreen applications.

Eyefinity would give you the 6 central displays for gaming purposes but probably struggle with a 10 display setup to.

I would be happy with just the 6 central displays for gaming as long as they will handle 10 displays when not in-game.

I've also heard that some graphics cards allow sli/xfire to be turned on when you enter a game. Would it be possible to run the central 6 from 1 card anf the remaining 4 from the other so when I load a game the outer monitors are completely disabled and both cards work together for the central 6?

Are there any UK suppliers that would sell these kind of cards? I don't mind buying from other countries but I would prefer to buy from the UK if possible

The reason for 10 is that I want to have an odd number horizontally so I get a screen in the center instead of 2 borders. I'm very tempted to add another 2 and go for 12 but I don't really have room for any more. I may use those extra outputs in the future for a touchscreen style graphics tablet or outputting to my TV

The Radeon 6000 line was meant to be able to handle 6 screen per card, one of the new technologies AMD announced with the launched of the 6850 and 6870 was the MST Hub which allowed you to run extra screens of the mini display ports but I've not seen any news on the MST hub since last year.

I might drop Richard Hubby a message on facebook and ask him what's going on with it because it's really fell of everyone's rader and I only remembered it because the OP wanted to run lots of monitors.

Edit: Oh damn looks like he left AMD in May. Maybe we will get some news on Monday about MST when AMD spills the beans on the new 28nm cards.

Yes, That is the card I first saw. I just can't find anywhere that sells it (is it even out yet?)

I already have 8 of the monitors and will have the other 2 soon. I definately want a solution that doesn't involve replacing them all. Looks like that American site sells the video servers on their own which could be an option. I don't know much about them though

get a 6990 for the middle six screens then get two chepo cards to run the left and right pairs
This. I run an HD5850 and nVidia 9500GT in the same machine in order to get 2 DVI and an HDMI port and it works without issue on W7. I wasn't expecting it to work with both the AMD and nVidia drivers installed, but touch-wood I've had no problems yet!
