Hey guys :)

I'm after a little bit of advice. Everytime I play a game that puts my card under load it will reach around 70 ish however I never allow it to get higher, however when I come off my game, I'll give it a few minutes and it'll cool down, however it only cools down to around 50 which if I'm honest I'm not to happy with.

However if I open up MSI Afterburner and manually put up the fan speed to around 60, screenshot:

It drops to the above within around 5 - 10mins and as you can see, its not asif the card is under any usage at all really.

I believe my cooling is ok in my case, I will be redoing it shortly and taking out my WC Loop (CPU only) and putting in air so I will have to take the motherboard out of the case etc anyway, so should I perhaps take the cooler off the graphics card (The card is a EVGA, would this affect warranty as I believe I still have some) and put on some new TIM? I have some Artic Silver somewhere I believe, if so how much? I've never done this before so as much help as possible would be nice :D

Another thing is, that when the card is at 50C the fan is only at 30% which is the minimum it can go, this doesn't sound right to me... Could the fan be borked?

Thanks :)

the fan will slow down as it gets cooler which will result in it taking longer to reach its lowest temperature. Since you are already using MSI afterburner, have you thought of setting up your own fan speed profile? Tick the box under the fan tab in settings and then have a play with the graph until you get the noise levels/cooling speed just how you like it.

Hi,

we do allow to remove the cooler and change the termal paste. I would suggest to not use metall based termal paste because if this drop on the PCB of the card it can occur short circuit and the warranty is also gone.
PS: We do also allow to install third party cooler if you want to go for this.

I would also suggest to set up a custom fan profile, if you raise the fanspeed right from the beginning to your personal max, this can ceep the card cooler then the auto settings.
