Looking for a graphics card for round about £60 to £70. May be able to stretch to £80. Hopefully to play games at a steady enough fps rate at medium settings.

Currently have an onboard HD4200 that can get away with some games but not many.

Rest of my spec is:
AMD Athlon X4 at 2.9ghz
4gb DDR3
Asus M4A87TD EVO

Thanks!

Hi there,

May I ask what make and model number PSU you are using?

If you don't know off-hand then you just need to open your PC case side and look what the sticker on the PSU says.

Yeah no worries its a coolermaster 460w. I built my computer last year without gaming in mind tbh. Just lately fancy getting back into PC gaming, just dont really wanna spend too much. Kinda out of the loop too with graphics cards with the last card I bought was a 8800gt quite awhile back. So im not quite sure whats what

Ah, in that case I would suggest going for a relatively power efficient gaming GPU. Something like this HD 5770 would be a good bet. The HD 6850 would also be a very good bet, but it costs a fair bit more (and a new 5770 is pushing your budget as it is).

As mentioned above, the HD 5830 is an excellent deal - but it uses a lot of power and requires a relatively strong and stable PSU. If your Coolermaster 460W is the "Elite Power" model, then I would suggest sticking with the HD 5770 or upgrading your PSU (here is a review). If you do want to go down the road of upgrading the PSU, this one would be a good choice.

HD 5770 is perfect card for your budget & will play games at 1080p at reasonable fps.

assassins creed brotherhood 40fps
mw2 online 80+ fps
gta iv 40 to 45fps
dirt 2 dx11 40 fps

its not a bad card i sold mine last month when i upgraded to Hd 5850 which is another awesome Ati card (overclocked to 900/1100 using trixx with 1.174v).
