Hi guys im new to this fourm so go easy on me, i just bought a radeon x1300 card you might say its not that good but for 60 quid its not that bad and i dont game a great deal on my PC. Anyway more to the point i uninstalled to catalyst control centre because i think its rubbish and installed the ati system tray, the thing i wanted to no is what is a good tempreture for my card to be running at? at the mo it says envirnment is 55 and max 57 and min of 54 and my GPU temp is 64 and max 65 and min 63 is that ok?

Many thanks

Liam

Welcome to the forums, the temperatures look fine because GPUs are more capable of withstanding high temperatures than CPUs. One thing though is that the load or idle temperatures? If your load temperatures are getting much above 80C then I'd begin to think about changing your cooling system.

The tempreture readings i gave were the default ones im using the ATI system tray and i heard you can ajust the temp by changing the fan speed, i dont like ajusting to many settings as im a bit of a noob to this and dont want to muck anything up, is there a guide to changing fan speeds or can you give me any reccomended settings?

Thanks for your help!!

Liam

cheers sun sorry for being a noob about this, i just had a look at my overclocking settings and it said this
TEMP FAN SPEED
51 48
56 48
61 48
66 48
71 48
85 48
95 100

They were the default settings i was wondering can i set the fans to 100% for all the temps or is that not a good idea? dont no if that will affect performance? i just want to keep it all nice and cool

cheers
Liam

i was also thinking of taking the side panel of my PC do you think that would help the flow of air and does anyone else do this?

You can set the fan to 100% for all temps if you want, if you can stand the noise it might make. It won't give you any extra performance, but it might allow for a better overclock.

Generally, taking the side panel off a case will actually reduce airflow, as having the case with fans blowing air through it generates more speed and sort of 'sucks' the air through, rather than leaving it to diffuse out of the open side of the case. You can try it though - just measure some temps, take the side off, and measure again. Won't do any harm to try. :)

cheers for your help mate i changed the settings so that anything under 50oc the fan is at 50% and 60oc to 80oc is set to 80% fan speed and anthing over 80oc fan speed is set to 100%, i dont intend to overclock my card as i dont game much on my PC and i dont really no how to do it but changing the fan speeds should not affect anything should it? i only play pro evo online thats it really. My normal temp on my PC running the normal things is 60oc is that about normal in your eyes

Cheers mate

nvidia video cards seem to handle heat much better. its too bad you bought ati card. every ati card i bought, i've had problems mainly due to overheating. replace it with nvidia card

Gibberish.
ATI cards if anything handle heat better, they have to, as the topend ones tend to generate more heat. Enjoy the better image quality on your ATI card, too. ;)

I want an honest answer?

Do you work for ATI? :p

Only when you admit you work for Nvidia. ;)

Hmm.

Do you read other peoples threads?

I would look for a secondhand 9800 pro for around 35 quid.

They are still nice cards in all honesty.

I loved mine

Cards I have owned:

9800 pro
6600gt
7900 GT
X1900 XT
7900 GTX
