Your the first to say this, and as I said before im not "that" into pc's as I used to be, cant justift any more than I am spending.

Budget was £50ish for the card itself now, just noticed the 3850 on special offer this week on ocuk at £44.99.

Yea get the 3850 for that price it will be the fastest you can get with £50 and they are usually decent overclockers. Think most of them can reach the speeds of 3870 on the core.

Yeah think the 3850 wins for me looking at the price and specs, not overly fussed about overclocking it to be honest matey. We will see how it runs "stock" first of all :)

before getting the card check if your motherboard is agp or pci-e second hand 8800gt(if you have pci-e) for 50 £ could be good would be bottleneck but hey it will play games

go for it mate ;

£50 = 3850 this week only

£66 = 3870xt this week only

£76 = nvidia 8800 gt this week only

probably more than you want to spend but ati 4850 at 100 + vat (so 117) is the newest tec out there and would be very nice.

all the above cards are direct x 10 / vista ready and will see you run games and playable rates for a couple years!

always more money = more performance but i think the 3870 might be your best bet, would end up being just over the 100 mark for your total upgrade..

if you get into the gaming again a simple motherboard and cpu upgrade wou1d make a big difference but that's for later.. your ddr2 ramis still the curent so would transfer. for overall system performance a newer hdd would also be beneficial. at that point it is almost a new PC!

as always ask for advice before parting with the cash!

Dan
