Graphics card trouble

So some people may have seen my older threads about what GPU and PSU to buy. So I purchased the cx corsair 600w which I installed with no problems. The graphics card (HIS ati radeon HD 6850) fits into an expansion slot, I have an onboard graphics ati radeon 3100. So i disabled that in device manager before hand. I booted up the PC with new graphics in the expansion slot but the computer doesn't seem to have detected this graphics card. I disabled the onboard graphics in BIOS which caused the display to cut out completely and I had to switch the jumper on the MOBO to reset it. I plugged my monitor into the new graphics card using some an attachment which I don't know the name of. After booting the PC up again I had no display again.

I have now ran out of things to do.

Perhaps someone can help me?

Edit: I am 100% sure its properly in the slot and fully pushed down.

Nevermind I have it working now. The issue was indeed not connecting the power cable which is pretty dumb of me. Although I didnt not see this mentioned in any installation guides.

Well, thanks.
