Hey guys,

ive got a Radeon 5450, 512mb. And i really need to update it. Ive made a budget build with Phenom II quad core, and asrock mb.

I have around £150 to £180 at most for a new graphics card. and i wanted any suggestions of which one to get.

Im not too sure what card, hopefully 2gb if able.

if anyones got any suggestions ill be thankful.

Hi there.

What PSU do you have?. We will need to know that first before suggesting anything. :)

ive got a 600w atm, im willing to upgrade it.
What brand/make is it? If it is some generic crap, I wouldn't use it with any half decent graphic card...as it simply won't deliver its claimed output at a stable enough rate.

Sidenote: Helped a friend bought a MSI GTX560Ti Twin Frozr 2GB plus BF3 game for just £191...what a bargin! Should arrive later today.

Anything out there new in the gaming ranges would be a massive upgrade if you intend to game.
As there are new cards due in a few months I wouldn't spend too much, so perhaps look at something like the 6850s on offer for sub £100, enjoy the truly massive performance boost over your 5450 and save the rest for later or a new PSU if yours is a little suspect. (or some games!)

2GB of VRAM is only useful at high resolutions with AA right now so I wouldn't let that influence you, 1GB should still do fine for a decent while, especially if you game at sub-1080p. I've not felt it's caused me any issues since grabbing my 6870, and I'm playing Shogun 2 which is notoriously VRAM hungry at 1080p, just with no AA.
