My employer did a raffle for old PC's with expired warranty's.
I ended up winning a CAD workstation from 2009 (HP xw8600) with the following specs:
CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon X5260 / 3.33 GHz, 6 MB L2, 1333 MHz FSB
RAM: 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2-667 ECC FBD RAM
GFX: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 512 MB PCIe
HDD: 2 x 500GB SATA 7200 rpm 3Gb/s 3.5"
MOBO: custom HP (Socket Dual LGA 771)
PSU: 800w
I would like to give this to my brother for gaming, but I know the graphics card is no good for that purpose.
So what is the best gfx card I can buy before the CPU/RAM becomes a bottleneck? Would a 7850 2GB GDDR5 be too much?
Regards,
Li
