Morning all,

I wondered if i could ask you guys for some help, i currently have a dell inspiron620 dell and i play wow and a few other games.
I am sick of not being able to play these games without full graphics so i would like to upgrade the graphics card but i have no idea which one is best for the unit and the current PSU.
I don't fancy spending too much on a card i.e. £150+ but would just like some ideas of which will accomplish the goal i need of playing WOW on ultra without issues.

Any help would be very much appreciated

Many thanks
reggy

Psu and cpu are most likely your limting Factors, what ones do you have?

Also have to consider if you have the extra cables for external power to a gpu from the psu, if not then you can get only pci-e powered graphics cards. Budget is good just need to know those factors first before recommending

Dell doesn't specify the spec for CPU etc:
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-620/pd

But it did list:
Mini Tower : 300 Watt Power Supply
Slim Tower : 250 Watt Power Supply

With that kind or small output PSU (and most likely low output on the 12v rail), I would say your best bet is a bus-powered 7750.

Full size card for the Mini Tower:

Low-profile/half-height card for Slim Tower:

(if the double-slot graphic cooler is too big for the Slim case, go for the Sapphire with the single-slot cooler instead):

hi, thanks for the quick replies so far :)

Gtiracer:
The psu seems to be a 300w version (L300PM-00) doing a google search for the code in brackets.

There also doesnt appear to be any spare power points on the psu cables or the psu itself so looks like no additional slots.

Marine-RX179:
Those cards look awfully tall there isnt a lot of room before the cooling fan for the cpu do the images to your knowledge exaggerate the height?

i should probably have prefaced the post by saying i am not tech savvy when it comes to the internals of the PC so i apologise if the info is limited :/

According to Dell:

Mini Tower : (1) PCIe x16 Full Height Card, (3) PCIe x1, (4) SATA
Slim Tower : (1) PCIe x16 Half Height Card, (3) PCIe x1 Half Height, (4) SATA

The height of the PCB/graphic card for full size and low profile cards are standandised.

If it is the proper size Mini Tower that you have, then I don't see any reason why the full size MSI 7750 wouldn't fit.

The MSI wont fit since the slot for the card inside the mother board is at the top and there are no more spare slots above for the extra on the card:/ i had to change the order to the low profile version you mentioned above, should arrive tomorrow

You are confused...graphic card inside PC case is installed upside-down with the graphic cooler hanging below the card...

typical, i rang overclockers and asked if this would be a problem and they said it would which is why i went for the more expensive low profile model!

To be fair I don't think the staff would really look up Inspiron 620 on the spot while on the phone with you, so I think he suggested the Sapphire since it would pretty much guarantee to fit any PC with a single PCI-E slot?

I mean the Dell is not their product so you can't blame them. Even my advise for you is only based on what I found with google, but even then I wouldn't say I'm 100% certain without see picture of your actual case.
