Graphics Card Upgrade - please help!

Hi people!

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. Haven't got enough money to go to PCI-express yet, so need a fast AGP card. Has anyone done a similar upgrade, and is it worth it? Was looking to get a 256Mb Radeon X700/800/850 - probably X800 or X850 tho..

Currently have:

AthlonXP 3200 Barton
1GB DDR400 single stick: timing 2-3-3-6
Radeon 9800Pro 128Mb
Asus mobo (A7V600X)

Aye, it is, but would it be worth it on a Barton 3200? I'd be gutted if i forked out all that money, only to gain, say 10fps before the CPU was the bottleneck (or something else of course).... Have you performed a similar upgrade?
