Ive just sold my RX 580 and I'm looking for a graphics card suggestion (best bang for the buck).
I'm thinking the AMD 5700 6600 or something similar maybe a good choice any thoughts ?

My pc spec
5800x CPU
16gb team group ram
Sasmsung 980 NVMe M.2 1TB
370x ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO (WI-FI AC)
850w XFX PSU
Samsung 305t screen

At the moment not a lot my rx 580 did not really have a issue to be honest but thought it was bottlenecking my PC and with a upgrade I have some flexibility for the future.

I like my RPG, racing games, fighting games.

Ive been playing PC simulator 2, wwe 2k22 lately and some of the epic games stuff, Will but giving Elden ring, uncharted and harry potter games a go.

The rx 6600 will be a good upgrade and is about 80% faster than you rx 580 , targeting 1440p the 6700 is a good option option at £340.

Thanks. I dont think I have the cash for a 6700 but ill keep a eye out if I get lucky
What's the difference between the 5700 and the 6600 also the XT models?

also would my board be fine, I think the cards use PCIe 4.0 and my board uses PCIe 3.0

The 5700 will perform simmlar to a 6600 like the 5700xt will.perform simmlar to a 6600xt its a generational performane improvement like 5700xt v 6700xt if that makes sense.

XT cards are stronger performing cards a bit like a vw golf gti it in the golf range.

Unless your getting a good deal on the older 5700xt I would buy new with warranty .

Pcie3 is fine it only affects lower end cards like the 6500 which is pcie4 x4 so nothing to worry about there.

Thanks micky

Yes that makes sense, so the 6600 is the same as the 5700 and the 6700 is the upgrade ?

Could you give me some ideas, what kind of price range would be a good deal for the older or used range 5700 / XT / 6600 ?

also I've read you can bios upgrade some of the non xt to xt models is that correct and is it worth it ?

Yes but your also getting 5700 performance at 6600 pricing .

Sorry Used market is not my thing , heads over to the members market see whats about.

You can on certain models as for worth it sure there's gains to be made but not massive compared to the risk imo and will probably void any warranty.

Wouldn't touch a rx5700/xt with a barge pole. It was a heavily traded card the past few years due to its value from favourable mining performance. Just pick up a rx6600
Thanks that makes things easier, anything else around that price range or is the 6600 the only option at the moment ?

The nvidia options are overpriced, a 3050 is quite a lot slower than a 6600. The 1660 Super isn't too bad, but again it is a chunk slower. The only comparable card is a 2060, which does sometimes hit a similar price to the 6600 (around £250).

The AMD 5700 XT or the Radeon RX 5600 XT would be a great option for the best bang for your buck. Both cards offer good performance for the price and should be able to handle most games at 1080p. The 5700 XT is slightly more powerful than the 5600 XT, but the 5600 XT does come with a lower power requirement. Both cards should be able to easily handle your current setup.

The 2060 is a few years old now how does it compare to the 6600 ? from the prices I've seen its a little more than the 6600

I've not found much in stock for the 5700 or 5600 and what I have for is a chunk more.

used is available but after the above message I'm not sure anymore

I wouldn't. As said, they're very likely to have been mined on and with the RX 6600 brand new under £250, it's just not worth it. The 6600 also has better average power consumption, lower idle power, supports ray tracing (even though it's crap) and can decode AV1.

Thanks this is why I'm no longer looking at the 5700
