Graphics card upgrade

Hi my girlfriends pc is as follows. What would be the best option for an upgrade of around £70, would the 2400 pro be holding the system back?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40GHz)
Windows Vista Home Premium
Memory: 4096MB (2x2048) 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
Hard Disk Drive: 250GB HD Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm)
Video: Video Card 128MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro

assuming its for gaming, a second hand 8800GT, mabye a second hand 4850 if your lucky.

this is an option if you want to buy new, although not as fast as the above cards.

really depends on what resolution she uses?

yes it is mainly for gaming and she has a samsung 2032bw with the setting as 1024 x 768

2400 Pro is pretty poop for gaming, stick a decent card in there and it will fly.

Something like HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 IceQ Turbo 512MB would be serve you well for that resolution

thats also what im wondering. And if the res is going to be that low then I think anything over an 8800GT is overkill.

i have a 20" screen and my native res is 16** x 10**

im guessing yours would be similar
