Graphics Card Upgrade!

Looking for a graphics card upgrade for my dad's system.
What would be the highest res he would get on games like bfbc2, dirt 3, bf3 When it's out
what would suit this setup?

abit ip35 pro xe
8GB OCZ Gold DDR2 Ram Memory 800mhz
nvidia geforce 8800GTS 512
win 7 64bit.

6950 2G is probably best bang for buck.

Or wait untill BF3 is out and look at the new ATI and Nvidia gpus.
