Hi, looking to upgrade my graphics card. My spec is as below;

CPU: i5 2500k
-CPU Cooler: AC freezer pro rev 2
MOBO: Asus p8z68 V-lx
RAM: 8gb vengeance LP
GPU: ATi 4650 1gb
1st HDD: WDC 200gb HDD
2nd HDD: 1tb samsung spin point
PSU: Hiper 650 (I think)

I was thinking of getting a 7950 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS&groupid=701&catid=56

Would my cpu cause a bottle neck for this card? my main uses would be photoshop, sketchup (open gl not cuda enabled) and arma 3.

Thanks for the reply, for the price difference and performance i might drop to a 7850. Compared to my current card it uses atleast double the power though.

Should I look at getting a new psu? When i last made a post here a lot of people said i needed a new one, i think this one is about 7-8 years old atleast.

Fair enough.

If I was going to buy a 7850 or a 7950 I would get one of these two:

7850

7950

I dont think your PSU will be a problem.

Does it have the right PCI Ex connectors?

Obviously you need as much GPU power as possible, if you want to turn the eye candy up in Arma 3. So that makes the 7950 more appealing, but if you can afford it, and you dont mind turning a few settings down, I'm sure the 7850 will be a fine card.

You might also consider a GTX 660/660ti.

I am fairly sure i have a pci ex connector which is connected to my current 4650.
Hmm if i was going to get the 7850 I didnt want to look to spend more then £150ish. The extra gig of vram would be very handy though.

I was set on a nvidia card but from the performance of the ati results and price and my lack of a need of cuda It doesn't seem as vital to have an nvidia.
