Graphics card using system ram????

What's all this I keep reading about graphics cards using system ram(as in the ram in whatever slots)?
I have a 7300GT with 256Mb of ram and it does not swipe/nick/take any of the 2Gb of DDR2 in the slots at all.
Have seen things said about a card having 512Mb(advertised)that is really a 256Mb one using up to 256Mb of DDR(in slots)but I read up on the Nvidia site that my card does not use "system"ram at all.
So just what is it all about???

Turbocache cards stay clear IMO

Like you mentioned they pinch your RAM, most cards that use Turbocache feature in laptops however there are some budget cards that use this. Stick with cards that have true memory.
