Graphics card worry.

This might be me getting worried over nothing about my new 8800gtx i got last week. i fired up the call of juarez demo (a game i was thinking of getting) this evening and it just starts to artifact everywhere with yellow and black triangles until the screen goes almost all black, i tried to alt tab but then it just crashed. I have played graw all night and oblivion for countless hours no problems,no artifacts and super smooth, not to mention 3dmark 06 about 5 times (all running flawlessly, getting 8734). Every other game i have played i have had no problem with.

Also nvmonitor shows my cards temp doesnt exceed 70 degress under full game load,idle it is 55.

should i be worried about the artifacts/triangles or is it just a game bug? :confused:

corsair 620w
x2 4400 @ 2.4ghz
ga k8n sli pro
1gb 400 ram
bfg 8800gtx oc1
 
Are you running any overclocks on your gpu?

I can put an extra 50-60 mhz on my gpu and play all the other games I have perfectly well, but if I run any more than an extra 20 mhz when playing CoJ I'll get artifacts that I can't vpu recover from (always ends with a BSOD).

nope, the card is still in its factory overclocked state(600mhz core,1400shader and 1800mem), i havent changed it all.
 
1gb of ram might not be enough, anyway you could get hold of another stick to bring it up to 2gig.
 
I can only think that CoJ is too OC sensitive for it's own good. Try downclocking a little just to prove if this is the case.

That's not going to make a difference to his artifacts.

But that would not be causung artifacts.

I would get the latest drivers, and maybe try the beta drivers. Don't know if you're on XP or Vista, but I'm using the 158.45 betas on vista and they seem like a good set of drivers.

Also, your score in 06 looks low. I know you've got an X2 and I've got a c2d but with the BFG OC 8800GTX I get about 11300 at factory OC, and about 12300 with it OCed to 648/1026. Compare your SM2 and SM3 scores to mine to see if you are in the ballpark with your card.

Your temps seem normal. Mine was at about 55/75 idle/load before I put the HR-03 Plus on it.

my shader scores are lower but thats because you have an uber cpu. My score is pretty much where it should be according to this and futuremark.com:

c2d aboive 3ghz+ seem to give huge leaps in 3dmark scores.
 
Also have just searched orb and the highest mark with my specs is 9000. with most falling between 8600-9000.
 
Was there not a known problem with 8800's and Call of Juarez. I think
I read it somewhere on these forums, i might be totally wrong though.
