Recently I have been looking at components for putting a £1000 gaming rig together. I want to be 100% certain that each part will meet my needs and last a good few years. Obviously trying to get the best components possible with my budget.

However, I am very undecided when it comes to picking a graphics card model.

I have been chopping and changing brands and even models every few days, trying to piece together what is best for me.

Firstly the old NVidia V AMD, from what I gather the 7950 and 7970 series gives you best "bang per buck" and you get some games thrown in free which I like. This has been leaning me towards choosing either one of these.

Which would you personally recommend for me? How do both compare, I read the 7950 is not far behind the 7970 performance wise. Is there a good overclockable 7950 which would stand the test of time? :o

I would love to play Planetside 2 on max settings with a good resolution along with other RPG's, MMO's and RTS games.

My personal order of preference :

The Gigabyte, last I heard, isn't voltage locked and is one of the cooler / quieter models. UK based RMA too, which is a bonus for speedy service.

The HIS is very quiet, possibly the quietest, though RMA's will probably take longer. HIS, like Gigabyte, tend to be among the best for cooling.
