hey guys,

ive got a gigabyte gtx970 g1@1500mhz and the FPS in ARK is fine, but i have en counted a problem... VRAM, avg around 3.3GB at 1600p, so now and again i can FPS spikes because of this.

i was going to grab another 970 g1 for SLI but now realize it would be a waste of time and money, btw, 1600p is only temporary but 1440p will be the new monitor.

so what do i do? sell on the 970 g1 and get a 980ti? or move back to AMD and go for r9 390's?

only problem i have with AMD crossfire is heat, my whole system dose not go over 60deg in ARK, both CPU and GPU, so i believe r9 390 crossfire will change that drastically as they are a hotter card than my current 970.

so guys, what do i do? best way to sort my problem as cheap as possible?

thanks

I would like a single powerful card really, i would also like to stay with nvidia.

Anyone using a zotac 980 ti amp? My 970 g1 is silent and would like to get a card just as quiet or quieter.

Are you sure your problem is VRAM related? I play ARK on a 980ti but used a 970 before that and haven't seen that much of a difference, my buddie has a GTX980 and runs the same settings as me. We are more engine limited than GPU limited at the moment.

You have to remember that ARK is still in beta and the graphics are about as optimized as a an ogre's sock.

You should check the ark steam forums. The game is not due for release until June next year so there is still a lot of optimising to be done.
